Terms of Service
Real Food Balance
1. Introduction and acceptance
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Real Food Balance website, application and related services (together, the "Service"). "Real Food Balance" is the trading name of a sole trader operating in the UK ("Real Food Balance", "we", "us" or "our").
By creating an account, browsing the Service or purchasing a subscription, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and (where applicable) our Subscription Terms and Refund/Cancellation Policy, each of which forms part of this agreement. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Who can use the Service
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account, and at least 18 years old to purchase a paid subscription. By using the Service you confirm that the information above is accurate and that you have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.
The Service is intended for users based in the United Kingdom. If you access the Service from outside the UK, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local laws.
3. Your account
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us promptly at info@realfoodbalance.com if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.
You agree to provide accurate, current and complete information when creating your account and to keep it up to date.
4. The Service
Real Food Balance provides recipes, meal plans and nutrition-related content and tools designed to support women's health and wellbeing and general nutrition. Some features are available free of charge; others require an active paid subscription, as described in our Subscription Terms.
We may add, change, suspend or remove features of the Service at any time, and we will try to give reasonable notice of any change that materially reduces the functionality you rely on.
5. Health and nutrition disclaimer
Real Food Balance is not a medical service and does not provide medical advice.
The recipes, meal plans, nutrition information and any goal-based guidance provided through the Service are for general informational and educational purposes only. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or health condition, and are not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
Always seek the advice of your GP, a registered dietitian, or another qualified healthcare professional before making significant changes to your diet, especially if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, breastfeeding, managing a medical condition, or taking medication. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you have read on the Service.
You are solely responsible for how you use any recipe, meal plan or nutrition information provided through the Service, including checking ingredients against your own allergies or intolerances (see Section 6).
6. Allergen and dietary information
We aim to tag recipes with relevant allergen and dietary information to help you make informed choices. However, this information may be incomplete while we continue building out our recipe database, and product ingredients can change. You must always check ingredient labels yourself and should not rely solely on our tags if you have a food allergy or intolerance.
7. Subscriptions and payment
Certain features of the Service require a paid subscription. Current pricing, billing frequency, free trial terms, auto-renewal and cancellation rights are set out in our Subscription Terms, which form part of this agreement. Payments are processed securely by our third-party payment provider, Stripe; we do not store your full card details.
8. Cancellation and refunds
You may cancel your subscription at any time as described in our Subscription Terms and Refund/Cancellation Policy. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law, including your rights under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
9. Acceptable use
When using the Service, you agree not to:
share your account with others or resell access to the Service;
copy, scrape, reverse-engineer or redistribute our recipes, content or software except for your own personal, non-commercial use;
attempt to interfere with the security or proper functioning of the Service.
10. Intellectual property
All recipes, text, graphics, logos, and software that make up the Service are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright, trade mark and other intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to access and use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.
11. Third-party services
The Service relies on third-party providers to operate, including hosting and infrastructure (currently Vercel and Supabase) and payment processing (currently Stripe). Your use of related third-party features may also be subject to those providers' own terms.
12. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under UK law.
Subject to the paragraph above, to the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
13. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms, including the Acceptable Use section. You may close your account at any time by contacting us at info@realfoodbalance.com or via your account settings.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our Service or legal requirements. We will notify you of material changes (for example, by email or an in-app notice) before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rights you may have in your country of residence.
16. Contact us
If you have any questions about these Terms, please contact us at info@realfoodbalance.com.
